Our guide to partying it up in Alicante

If your idea of the perfect trip is packed full of nightlife festivities, Alicante may be the place to go for your next holiday.  Alicante is a Spanish town situated along the stunningly beautiful and sunny Costa Blanca coastline.  With its hot, endless summer evenings, Alicante is a popular destination for travellers looking to experience the Spanish party scene.

Night-time revellers usually wander along the main stretch adjacent to the port called Muelle de Puerto (also known as Explanada d’Espanya). The bars in Alicante are always lively and guarantee a fun, wild time, but be sure to sleep during the day because the party often doesn’t get started until after midnight.

At many venues like Z Club the party doesn’t even kick up until 2 or 3 am, so don’t show up too early unless you want to dance alone.  Instead, have a late leisurely dinner at Piripi on Avenida de Oscar Espla, which has fresh seafood delivered daily and a staggering variety of tapas.  Or start the evening off with delicious tapas at Bar Potato and then head to Puerto di Roma for some of the best dance music the city has to offer.  There are at least twenty bars along the Muelle de Puerto.  With most clubs staying open until 6 am and everywhere so close, you can hop around until you find your favourite spot.

In Casco Antiguo, the old part of the city, a traveller can find plenty of late night delights. The streets in this area wind all over the place and there are loads of bodegas and taverns, so set out wandering and you’re sure to end up in a cool place. La Mision has three floors, plays all the latest dance tunes and gets packed by 2am. La Havana is popular with locals, so if you’re in search of a great club that’s not entirely tourists this is the club for you.
Astronomo is a one of the most popular bar and dance club where the party spreads across two floors, house or pop music blasting and alcohol flowing until the early hours of the morning. There’s an outdoor patio with tiki torches that’s perfect in the warm weather.

For live music, Celestial Copas is the place to be.  It is quirky, with a collection of religious art and cherubs on the walls and red velvet curtains, but offers a steady flow of great local music.

Adding to its party town credentials, Alicante is a walkable city, which lends itself well to an unplanned, spontaneous night out.  Just enjoy the amazing food, bumping music and energetic crowds of people to see where the night takes you.
